The Battered Women and Children Shelter

La Paloma de La Paz

The Battered Women and Children's Shelter is a program of Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc., dedicated to breaking the cycle of family violence and strengthening families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, education, effective parenting and early intervention with children and youth

Our Goals

Long term, comprehensive array of residential and non-residential programs:
  • To provide victims of family violence with a place of safety
  • To provide transition to self-sufficiency
  • To provide counseling and support for women, children and families who are victims of family violence and in need of service, but not shelter
  • To educate the public about family violence
  • To serve as a catalyst for the prevention and intervention of family violence in the community
We will take you from crisis to independence by Providing Options With Educational Resources (POWER). With our POWER program you will be educated about the tools needed to provide for you and your family.

About Us

We are a non-profit organization funded in part by the United Way, Texas Department of Criminal Justice, City of San Antonio, Health & Human Services Commission, and Department of State Health Services ...but it is people such as yourself who have helped sustain us to help women and children in the past and your continued support will do so in the future.
