Thank you for thinking of Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. during the holiday season.

There are four ways you can help:

• Donation Drive for items off our Holiday Wish List
• Adopt-a-Family
• Host a holiday party at one of our facilities
• Third party events--designate Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. as the benefiting charity of your holiday festivity.

We cannot predict the precise ages or even the number of children we will serve during the holiday season, but the following breakdown should help you. For both locations, about ½ of the children served are male and ½ are female. There are separate lists for residents of the Battered Women and Children’s Shelter and for our Counseling Center clientele.

Donation Drives:

In order to coordinate all donation drives, pickups, deliveries and speaker requests we ask that you complete the Holiday Event Form at least seven days in advance of your event. Our deadline to have all items either scheduled for pick up or drop off is the week of December 7th. Drop offs are being accepted at our Donation Center, 2617 N. Main 78212, on Mondays from 11 ~ 7 or Fridays 9 ~ 4. An alternative location is the Counseling Center, 7911 Broadway 78209. Hours of our Broadway office are Mondays through Thursdays 8:30am ~ 8:30pm or Fridays 9am ~ 4pm.

Adopt-a-Family:

Ex-residents and outreach clients of Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. may
qualify for Christmas assistance. Priority will be given to people actively participating in
services within the past two years. We cannot assure that everyone will be assisted.
The number of families assisted will depend on number of adopt-a-family sponsors and
donations received. Families will complete an application which is then forwarded to
interested sponsors. Sponsors may then contact the family for further information and
delivery plans. We ask that each family member receive two new wrapped gifts and
that each family receive the makings of a holiday meal. Other assistance (decorations,
clothing donations) may be given to families if sponsor wishes. Sponsors may also help
with Thanksgiving assistance if desired.
