Transitional Housing Program
In keeping with FVPS’s goal of promoting long-term independence, the FVPS Transitional Housing Program includes three tiers which gradually move individuals and families toward complete self-sufficiency.
Goals initially set while in the Battered Women and Children’s Shelter are furthered during the first tier of the Transitional Housing Program. Emphasis shifts from the therapeutic to the applied, as women and children use skills and resources in their daily lives.
Clients maintain at least part-time employment and/or are continuing their education. Both adults and children continue to receive counseling and case management services while participating in the Transitional Housing Program, and with support of FVPS staff, establish a pattern of stability and success in setting and achieving educational, employment-related, and financial goals.
Tier three of the Transitional Housing Program offers rental assistance, scholarships, and the support of all FVPS Programs to ensure attainment of dignity, lasting independence, and freedom from abuse.
